CACN Nurse Educator Scholarship

The California Association of Colleges of Nursing (CACN) is pleased to announce a Scholarship Program for graduate nursing students who are in or are preparing for the role of the nurse educator. Up to three $1,500 scholarships will be awarded for the academic year 2025-2026.

Award Criteria

1. Be enrolled in a CACN member school graduate nursing program (Master’s or doctoral) with the intention to teach. Applicants who are already in a teaching role with baccalaureate or higher degree students will receive additional consideration.

2. Maintain good academic standing with a current cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher.

3. Be committed to teach in a School of Nursing in California at the baccalaureate level or above for two years after degree completion.

Nomination Process

Candidates Must:

1. Generate a letter indicating how one meets the scholarship criteria (please reference the criteria for the award above).

2. Be supported by a faculty member who sends a letter of recommendation on school letterhead that cites the candidate’s relevant academic, clinical, and professional experience, and stipulates that the candidate meets the award criteria.

3. Submit the scholarship application with all necessary documents.

Selection Process

1. Staff will review applications for completeness.

2. Complete applications (only) will be reviewed by the Scholarship Selection Committee.

3. Final selection(s) will be forwarded to the CACN Executive Committee for approval.

4. Scholarship recipient(s) will be notified of their award early December 2025, with scholarship funds awarded upon approval.
